How to delete vias?

autodeskguest

I'm running Eagle 4.13.  If I have a wire running on two layers, with a via

connecting the two traces, and I subsequently move one trace to the same

layer as the other, the (now superfluous) via remains in the layout.  If I

try to delete it with the delete tool, I get a warning that this operation

should be performed in the schematic (which has no vias).  I assume Eagle

thinks I'm trying to delete the wire.  Regardless, how can I delete the via?

I have several of these unnecessary vias, and one of them even has its

airwire still attached, running to the routed trace.  That may be an

unrelated problem, but I'd like to remove it, too.  Thanks.

    Karl,

You have to use the "rip-up" button. Careful not to rip-up the entire

signal path, though. Only target the vias in question. I'm using v.5,

but it should work. From what I understand, you use delete only when

working with signal traces which don't have any correspondence in the

    schematic.

    Regards,

    Brian

You have to use the "rip-up" button.

No, you don't.  You want to use the RIPUP command somehow, but that

certainly does not require using a particular button.  For me it would be

SHIFT-F8, but that's how I have my keys assigned in the board editor.

Typing "ripup" (I think just "rip" works too) is reliable.
