COPY & PASTE ( or CUT & PASTE ) betwe en Layers?

autodeskguest

Hi,

In the LIBRARY EDITOR - EDIT PACKAGE WINDOW, I am having trouble trying to

"COPY & PASTE" or better "CUT & PASTE" between layers!

The cut and paste buttons are totally unfriendly!

Its annoying enough as it is, that EAGLE CAD does not always show the

current ACTIVE LAYER, so often I start drawing in the wrong layer, and many

layers are coloured the same.

So what is the easiest way to copy from ONE LAYER (or better to CUT) and

then paste that onto a new layer

So far my attempts alway copy to the same layer! even though I turn OFF

that layer.

Thanks!!

Dave M

This is more of a rant than a question, so I'm not going to respond

    directly.

However, keep in mind Eagle uses unfortunate command names for a few

things.  CUT actually does a COPY, and COPY never seems to do what you

want.  WIRE is used to draw lines, except when those lines represent wires,

    then you use NET.

What do you think about CHANGING a Layer image

Its annoying enough as it is, that EAGLE CAD does not always show the

    layers are coloured the same.

Normally eagle shows the active layer in the parameter menu.

So what is the easiest way to copy from ONE LAYER (or better to CUT) and

    Don't COPY just CHANGE

So far my attempts alway copy to the same layer! even though I turn OFF

    that layer.

    Thanks!!

Maybe you should have a look into the manual image

    Regards Stefan

    Hi, Stephan,

So you are saying to change, I need to "CHANGE" a group of drawing objects,

i.e lines etc from one layer to another, nothing seems to work, when you

select group, only one of the drawing items( objects) moves, not the

    objects selected in the group!

    This is so annoying!

select GROUP and gather your objects.

    select CHANGE:LAYER

/Right Click / one of the objects in the group to apply the command to

the whole group - left click is to an individual object.

EAGLE does everything differently, you need to read and follow the

tutorial to get familiar with it, or you will be very annoyed until you do.
