context menus, eaglerc.usr

I almost never welcome a context menu popup. I used to be able to lessen the

frequency of their appearance by editing the Eaglerc.usr file according to

the v5.0 release note, to add:

Option.ToggleCtrlForGroupSelectionAndContextMenu = "1"

After installing v5.8 lite, each time I close Eagle, eaglerc.usr is edited

by Eagle and and the value goes back to "0". The cursed context menus remain

and that "workaround" does not work.

I wonder, is this new policy or just a bug?

    Here it works as expected. You write you are editing the eaglerc.usr

    file dierctly. Be sure that EAGLE is closed while editing.

    As an alternative, try

      SET Option.ToggleCtrlForGroupSelectionAndContextMenu 1;

    in the commandline of, for example, the board editor. Does it work now?

    Regards,

    Richard

    You're right, I had edited eaglerc.usr while Eagle was open.

    After I edited with Eagle closed, Eagle no longer changed my edit.

    I changed back to the default value and then tried the command line entry,

    which also worked.

    Many thanks, Richard.
