CAD Multiple Formats = .stp file in the zip

Some components in the Newark library have a CAD Multiple Formats download available. This results in a xxxx.stp file downloaded. Is this supposed to be used for the Eagle software? So far, I have not figured out if I can use this type of file.

Hi Michael

I think this is a STEP file for use in MCAD applications. This is basically a 3D model to allow modelling of the component physically on a board. EAGLE doesn't support them directly as far as I am aware but you can export from EAGLE into various 3D modelling applications if you have the option to export or a suitable 3D modelling app which can import EAGLE board files and then add STEP 3D models.
