Vias not getting isolation

Working on a 4 layer board still and finally down to placing parts.

Layers numbered 1 on top and 4 on bottom.

Signals on layer 1 and 4.

Ground plane on 2 and assorted power distribution on 3.

 

I drop a via with a different signal name on top of a power trace. Layer 2

gives me an isolation ring but layer 3 does not. Any ideas on why this is?

Went through Design rules and net classes. Can't see anything that stands

out as an error.

 

One thing occurs to me- I have ground polygons on layers 1,2,4 but not on 3.

Did not seem significant though.

  • Just realized, there should be no isolation. It's a short circuit! Running

    DRC would have told me that...

    Amazing what stopping for a cup of coffee does to help one collect their

    thougts...
