I had originally purchased an eagle 7 license for a 32 bit machine. Was
thinking of moving the install to a Win10 64 bit machine. Can the original
license key be used on the new machine?

Tried installing the 64 bit version on Win10 and at first, I used the wrong
text string. Got the right one and it installed.
New Problem: Opening a project created in 32 bit now on a Lenovo T420S
laptop running Win10 64 bit:
Board opens with the black background (good), Schematic opens with white
background. Using the options/set dialog, the black background is selected,
shows a black color but upon hitting OK, I still have a white background.
Is there a fix for this?
Still working through setup on a 64 bit win10 installation.
Main window size and position is not remembered upon closing. Always is a
small size in the middle of the screen (default) when eagle is restarted.
Eagle 7.6.0 is installed in C:\program files\ and not the default C:\
All working directories are on a USB thumb drive in a Briefcase (so they
will synch with a desktop computer).
Win10 seems to support a briefcase generated on a WinXP machine. (Creating a
briefcase in Win10 is not enabled by default but there is a registry
modification that enables this)

I transferred eagle 6.6 from win xp-32 to win 8.1-64 no problem.
BTW imo C:\program files... IS a default directory...

I am wondering if I reinstall to the default directory, if the problems will
be fixed.
I had used a "briefcase" successfully between two WinXP Pro computers, one
on the company network and the other with an XP Pro laptop when on the road.
Nice for when one can't count on being able to get an internet connection
for cloud storage. Not sure how the original network paths given in
eaglerc.usr or the .epf files is translated.

OK, all good for now.
Reinstalled to the default directory (C:\Eagle 7.6\) but also had forgotten
to check some boxes in control panel\options. Seems to be behaving as
desired. Now, to get some work done.
