Is there a command, or ULP that will compare and highlight any differences
between two packages (kind of like comparing 2 word documents). For
example, say you have a 2N1234 in a SOT23 & a 2N3456 in SOT23. Though they
are both called out for SOT23, they might have very slightly different
packages, or perhaps all of the dimensions are exactly the same. A
comparison would verify or highlight any differences (either graphically or
by list). This is where Eagle can provide a headache, since the same-named
packages can be "mismatched" with other packages having the same name.
As an aside, rather than have 30 "different" packages named sot23, it would
be nice to uniquely name them , perhaps, sot23aa, sot23bb..then no
confusing one package with another (due to sharing the exact same name).
Of course sot23 is pretty generic, but other types might be less forgiving.
