Eagle lost fundamental zoom function in Mac OS Sierra upgrade

vintagesynthlab
vintagesynthlab over 9 years ago

EDITED : found fix for this particular issue using a wireless Logitech mouse: Downloaded latest Logitech SW Control Center at: Logitech Control Center for MacintoshRegistered OS X - Logitech Support

After upgrading to the new Mac OS Sierra last night, I immediately discovered--upon opening Eagle, that the zoom function for which the center scroll button of my Logitech mouse now causes both zoom and pan at the same time.

This is a major handicap for using Cadsoft Eagle (and I am way behind in my work, so this timing is terrible for me).

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

You have not said which Eagle version you are using

I see Logitech has bug fixes for macOS Sierra so check those out.

Sorry, I did forgot to include Eagle versions:

    I am using 7.7.0

I also tried going back to 7.6.2 (no change)

I will check out the alleged Logitech bug fixes for macOS Sierra.

    Thanks,

    Eric

As Warren mentioned, there was an update for Logitech at: Logitech Control Center for MacintoshRegistered OS X - Logitech Support While this did fix this problem, it should be noted that my wired Dell mouse I have still fails to work properly--which is not a big deal since we now have a solution for the wireless Logitech mouse.

So is that an apology to Cadsoft?

Maybe Dell has a driver fix also, Maybe all mouse and keyboard makers are

now having to cater for HID handling in the new MAC OS. Maybe in a week or

two, I suspect you may see a patch for the OS

I see the same behaviour with a Microsoft three-button mouse.  I don't have

    any special moue software installed.

Sure, why not:  Cadsoft, sorry for the accusation, sometimes it's difficult to discern between OS, App, peripherals, etc. (sincerely).

However, I'm not sure an apology is really necessary or productive in this context. I'm sure Cadsoft understands that even the best of us are not perfect.
I'd like to add that I am a paid, legit license holder for professional, so perhaps my expectations (regardless of actual fault) are still not realistic.  As a hardware technician of 25 years, and Engineer of 5 years, I should know better: that is; SW, FW, and HW engineering is anything but perfect.

Reporting that this issue appears to be fixed with latest patch to OS X.  I

am now running 10.12.1 and the mouse seems to behave properly in EAGLE

    V6.5.
