New element in library don't show

zoks
zoks over 9 years ago

Hi,

I created a new lbr file from here

https://github.com/robertstarr/lbr_user/blob/master/switch-ck.lbr

I placed this lbr file i Eagle lbr folder, and in control panel I can see elements in a library.

But when I open schematic, and click "Add" i cant find it in a list

I performed "Library=>Use" and "Library=>Update All" but still I can't see it in "Add" list

OK, problem is solved, when I read your post it give me idea to open library in control panel (this part was working) and than I just save it (I change nothing, only save). And now it is working, library…

Try refreshing the control panel first (F5). Make sure you put the

library in the place that your directories setting is pointing to. (I

have a local directory as well as one on the network. The network one

    gets backed up regularly.)

What I do when adding a library is : on the schematic window select the "Library" menu and "Use" from the drop down.... then select the library you want to use.

After this the Add device menu will include the new library....

I do in a same way (Library => Use , than library appear in Add list), and I newer had a problem before, but now it is not working.

BTW, I forger to mention, Eagle version 7.7.0

I'm not sure that I properly done file creation from this github link above, since that "download" is not working correctly (I get unusable HTML document),

I click on RAW, Select all (Ctrl + A), Copy, and Paste in empty notepad document, which I named switch-ck.lbr . Placed under Eagle LBR folder (...lbr/Github/switch-ck.lbr).

In past I made lbr. files from that source several times in that way and I don't remember that I had such problems.

Like I said, I control panel I can see this library (see screenshoot)

    Hi

The answer is in the images

The top one shows you looking at a directory for Eagle 7.7 and yet the

image for the ADD shows you are looking at Eagle 6.3

It's likely that the eagle.epf file for the project is still listing the

    6.3 files.

    With the project open

Right click on the Libraries folder and select

    Use None

    Use All

    That should fix your issue

OK, Thanks, I correct it, now path leads to 7.7.0 , but unfortunately  still, no switch-ck.lbr in Add list.

Again in schematic I performed Library => Use => Eagle 7.7.0/lbr/Github/switch-ck.lbr and than checked list in Add, it is still missing in list.

Can you or somebody try to check this lbr file, maybe something wrong with it?

    Hi

I do not have a problem with that library file. (Using Win7)

Maybe, recheck your directory paths in Control Panel > Options>

    Directories...

Maybe I have some issue with antivirus on work laptop, I will check in 2 days since I will not be in office tomorrow.

Are you sure you put the library where you think you did?  Win7 and it's

ever handy "virtual store" where you put something one place, windows

actually puts it somewhere else in the "virtual store" under your account

and then another process not running as you can't find it.  It may be a

protection thing biting you if you are trying to put the libraries in the

main path instead of a path under your account.  See

    http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/222389-what-virtual-store-folder.html

(I have been bitten by this one several times in the past).  I like

Unix/Linux - it will tell you "no" if you don't have permission.  Windows

just sweeps it under the carpet and does not tell you it has done that. image

I don't know how to check this what you pointing. My Eagle is installed on D disk (D:/program files/Eagle 7.7.0 , library and project file is placed inside eagle folder

(library is $EAGLEDIR\lbr) . And I see that tree in win explorer, I don't know what else to check.

BTW , I reinstalled complete EAGLE (with antivirus disabled), but nothing changed.

I try to import other library (file is inside folder "Zoran_custom" visible on images above), there are some elements that I created long time ago, and this

library appear normally in Add list.

So obviously problem is with exactly this library "switch-ck.lbr", and problem is present only on my laptop at Work, at home I don't have such problem with this same file.

    Very strange

I dont know if this helps, but I have seen eagle having problems to

update if there is a library with the same name in some path,

even if the other library is not in use.
