F/B Annotation errors 4.16R2 Pro vice 7.7 Ultimate

Hi All,

I have 2 versions of EAGLE, 4.16R2 and a new (finally) 7.7 Ultimate.

While bouncing between the 2 versions. I noticed some odd behavior.

Using the same file, version 4.16r2 opens the files with no ERC errors.

Sch and Brd are consistent.

However using 7.7 Ultimate I get consistency errors, "Part C21 has

inconsistent packages in schematic and board (C0402 from smt.lbr /

C0402@2 from smt.lbr)". Saving and reopening, Update, Update All does

nothing to clear it up.

Thanks,

Jeff.

    Hello Jeff,

I hope you're doing well. The file has the imperfection both in V4.16

and V7.7. The difference is that in V4.16 the check for that

imperfection hadn't been implemented, it was implemented in V6.5 which

    is why V7.7 detects.

It is a real defect, the best way to correct it is to save it in V7.7(or

save as if you want to leave the original file intact so that V4.16r2

can open it). This will change the file over to the XML format. Open the

board file in a text editor and do a search and replace where you search

for C0402@2 and replace it with C0402. Assuming the defect is minor that

should be enough to fix it. Otherwise it will become tricky and I would

encourage you to e-mail the file to support@cadsoftusa.com for repair.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia
