Price model for AutoDesk   compared to old Eagle?

autodeskguest

Hi

I use Eagle 7.5 and have a payed license for "Commercial Light". I have

license back to v4.

Yesterday i got a promotion mail about Eagle 8.0 from AutoDesk.

I am confused about the price model. My licensed Eagle 7.5 i payed about

80€ for my "Commercial Light" license.

**Where to find the price model?

**Is it Eagle AutoDesk a one time payment, or scheduled payment/fee?

If the price model have changed to a scheduled payment/fee as xx$/Month or

xx$/Year I am looking for another program.

I don't hope AutoDesk will bring Eagle down to nothing, because the

strongest card Eagle have, is all the pro. users there have used Eagle for

years in business or as there hobby.

    Real bad news:

    http://hackaday.com/2017/01/19/autodesk-moves-eagle-to-subscription-only-pricing/

Will newer work, and for me it is time to find another PCB package. I have

used it for years, and only payed for switching from one major version to

another. I don't pay month fee!

Eagle comes out as a big, pompous, like "angry bird", expensive monster car.

    https://d21tktytfo9riy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/30124036/red-image.png

    The insert video talks books.

PCB Design & Schematic Software | EAGLE | Autodesk

But, its files and functions are the smallest ever I've seen.

What have Eagle what the others have not?
Nothing, absolutely nothing, yes Eagle have more then the others - more errors than even before.

They didn't learn about what the customers need.

I see that million small users - hobbyists also small companies have now much more problem using Eagle.

Its really to much price for the mostly small projects.

I do not use Eagle every day - i have a lot more jobs / eg. programming µCs, production of modules, selling.../ , but now i must pay for one product what i not daily use.

I do not need 16m², !! 16m² - up to 16 layers !! - wow / "and all mounted with SMD" /, but i need up to 6 or 8 layers for a small PCB.

Most projects lays by double Euro-Card, e.g. 160x233mm; or so, or for a backplane in a 19" housing.

Or i use it for for PCBs with 30x30,,,50x50mm dimension

    - but! more layers as two because we have power planes, shielding, and much more on the PCB.

For these projects, I need a tailored licensing policy.

Eg for 4m², 16 layers, that is enough for all days.

This 16m² was just only for 1 company in the US, for 1 project; Well and then...? - we must pay for that! why? i don't use it.

I have a small company and fight every day to get projects - so it will more complicate and more difficult.

    Gerald

Autodesk strikes again.  Some years ago, my favorite DOS based CAD program

was Generic Cadd - excellent program and well established ... until

Autodesk bought them out.  Almost overnight, we lost that program too.  I

won't be opting for the monthly ransom.  Too bad - I guess Eagle 7 is the

    last version I will purchase.

I'm very nervous about this since three companies made changes similar

to this which ruined the value to the customer.  When Sony sold their

audio software to Magix, many users ran away, (myself included).  To

pay what Autodesk is asking, they will have to justify the added cost

and show where it's worth it.
