V8 Save selection as design Block

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 9 years ago

In the mean time while stuff is being sorted out re: subscriptions and

upgrades, I am trying to evaluate the feature set of V8 to see if I want

to upgrade or not.

So it appears I can export a design as a design block but when I choose

export selection as design block nothing happens?

    Hi Glenn,

When you create a block, be sure and pay close attention to the command

line at the bottom of the window.  You should:

    1) select "create design block from selection"

    2) select the stuff you want in schematic (pay attention to the task bar

at the bottom of the EAGLE window)

    3) ctrl/cmd + right mouse to switch editors

    4) add selective objects using cmd + click (if you want to add items)

    5) ctrl/cmd + right mouse to save.  (again, follow the task bar at the

    bottom)

Hi Richard, thanks for the hint. I was able to save off and paste in a

block to another design. I have an issue with pasting the schematic

block in as it does not snap to the the .1" grid.

The makes it a real pain to connect anything.

    Hi Richard,

I hope you are well? We haven't seen you on here for quite a while!

It looks like there are a couple of places the devs forgot to consider the importance of sticking with the grid then.... This and the new slice command. There is another thread covering the issues with the slice command but as there is a common theme to the new features not being "grid aware" and somebody somewhere clearly not picking up the importance of this, I thought I would bring this to your attention here too so you can prod the correct people to fix it image

    Best Regards,

    Rachael
