V8: Where are the classic icons?

I cannot find the option anymore to switch back to the classic icon set.

As the new icons are still horrible, I would prefer to have the old ones

back.

That is not going to be on the pro side of the pro/con for an update.

After playing around with V8 a bit, except for the slice command I don't

see anything worth even a new revision number. This "design block

feature" is the hierarchical design they promised to be in V7 already...

I too prefer the classic icons to the current batch of 'modernised'

    ones. Horrible they are.

A modern icon set would be fine by me but the first attempt by Cadsoft

missed the mark. Basically they are to chunky and upset the balance of

the UI. Additionally, some of the symbology was wrong like the stop icon

which is not stop in my part of the world but rather do not enter or

    even one way.

I have not viewed v8 but did expect the Autodesk 'look' to be applied.

Hence these icons would have been replaced with a more pleasant set.

When the new icons first arrived, you could create your own svg icons

and apply them. Can some one tell me if this is still possible.

    Regards

    Warren

This is a statement that I could make about EVERY piece of software I

ever use. There is a trend in "modern" GUI design to replace perfectly

functional, clear, distinctive and legible icons with... things that

some graphic artist feels are more "stylish" but which have nowhere near

enough contrast to be visible, nor enough clarity to mean anything. When

will these so-called experts learn that a GUI is meant to be USED, not

    admired for its artistic value.

EAGLE V8 comes with the new icon set and it has been reworked compared

to V7 in terms of readability. The new icons are scalable what the old

    were not.

If you do not like them, switch all the toolbars off and use the

    commandline.  image

Or let's vectorize the old icons and call it a day.
