Design block

autodeskguest

Hi, So I made a few design blocks and dropped them into some test

designs. Is there anyway to link back the block to it's source? Can

design blocks be edited independently? If the design block was updated

somehow, how does one refresh that block in another project?

    Hi Glenn,

The way design blocks work I believe is basically using the existing

ability to import one EAGLE design into another, but it's been re-packaged

to make it a more polished feature. This seems to work quite well but it

has the drawback that they are not actually reuse blocks that are tightly

coupled with the designs they are used within. Once they are imported to a

design then they are part of that design and changes can be made within

that design which are independent of the source design block and cannot be

back annotated. Similarly, if the source design block is updated then there

is no method to update instances (as they are not actually separate

instances referencing the source) of that block in any designs, the only

way to update them is to delete them out and import them again I believe.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael
