Find drill by size on PCB

Hello,

 

Does anyone know a quick way to find a drill on the board by size?

I have a fairly good size board and have two drills almost exactly the

same size and would like to merge them.

I did not have control of the library parts so have no idea what part(s)

the odd size drill is in.

Staring at the sea of drill symbols on a large board is not an

attractive option.

Ideas anyone?

    Why not open the .brd file in an XML or text editor?

  • You could use the following ULP, downloadable from

    http://eagle.autodesk.com/eagle/download/2087

     

    drillinfo.ulp

     

    Then you will know which part has the drill size of interest.

     

    You will still need to get at the library to change it but this is possible

    by exporting the libraries from the schematic or board. There are few

    precautions needed to achieve this.

     

    You may not need to do anything. The manufactures often only drill to their

    drill sizes and if your two sizes fit within the one range they will be

    drilled with the same drill - job done.

    My problem came in when there were too many drills and Eagle ran out of

    symbols.

    When I looked at the sizes they were about 0.16 mil apart.

    Fixing was easy, finding was the challenge.
