Is it possible to add a   document number

I have managed to manipulate borders, with help from contributors to this

web site.

 

I notice in the title box there is a blank 'Document Number' box, is it

possible to put something somewhere in Eagle to fill this and if so how?

I notice the title of the file shows up in the title box and the date

changes every time you alter the file.

    Hello,

     

    You can add a global attribute from Edit->Global attributes.... and call it something meaningful like DOC_NUM in this example or whatever you like with the appropriate value for your document. Then in your frame library part, add text element containing the text >DOC_NUM (or whatever you used, just make sure it starts with a >) and place it in the document number box.

    The document number is not handled automatically (at least, not on

    versions I've used a lot, there may be some V7 or V8 changes to this).

    Instead you can simply place a text annotation in there. Use the text

    tool, select a suitable font size and the layer that matches the border,

    and place the text.

     

    That said, it is possible (V5 onwards?) to embed attribute values in

    symbol text within the library. The limitation is that attributes apply

    to parts, not the schematic (or project) as a whole. You'd still have to

    set the attribute on the frame of every sheet.

    Global attributes work across the drawing, so set it in the schematic and

    it's set on every sheet. You have to doit separately for the layout, but

    you would want that different anyway as the layout would want to have a

    different document number to the schematic.
