Cant move custom symbol on schematic

I've created a couple of devices today using custom symbols and library packages. When I placethe part on my schematic it doesn't have the small "+" that acts as a handle and appears on most parts. So I can't do any functions such as move, rotate...on it. On my schematic I can see it on other parts and move them as expected. I can also place other parts I createdby modifying existing library parts, for instace a resistor with a custom value.

 

I believe the difference is that I created the failing parts from scratch as far as the symbol goes. I either drew them or copied some drawing from another part such as a diode. In the symbol editor I see the little "+". In the device I see the little "+". But it doesn't appear on my schematic.

 

Any ideas? I'm quite puzzled.

  • A couple of ideas come to mind.  If the symbol was copied and placed, but not near the origin point (small +) in the 'package editor' portion of the library editor, then the part origin is somewhere outside of the component outline.  Also check to make sure that the proper origin layer is turned on.
