After copy/paste from pcb, can I get a schematic?

I have carefully designed pcb layout.  I need the same parts and layout repeated four times on the pcb.

I've found that I can copy/paste multiple times from the board view into a new design.  But, I can't seem to get a schematic for the new design with the extra instances.

Is it possible to do this, or must I repeat the layout for the remaining three instance if I want a linked schematic?

Thanks!

    Sorry, just found this:

"Block Copy" in Eagle PCB Layout

I'll give it a try and ask if I have issues.

Ok, didn't take long to get stuck.

Don't worry: you only have to fix each net once.  This is usually

only 5 or 6 nets to fix the whole list.

I did the name change for GND1, but don't I have to change EVERY net name in the pasted schematic  to be consistent with names the layout editor assigned them in the copy?

    I get complaints like this:

I think I DO have to rename every net in the schematic, but that's a lot better than having to do the layout three more times.

One thing that I think will help.  Give every net a name in the original schematic.

Named nets are named the same in the copy except with a suffix (eg PHOTO1 versus PHOTO in the original).  But, nets that are allowed to default to a name get a different name in the schematic copy versus the layout copy.

When you try to rename the nets in the schematic to be consistent with the layout (or vice versa), you find conflicts.  The name you want has already been used on another net.

So, you first have to rename all the N$ nets in the copy to something that doesn't exist elsewhere in the schematic.  Then you can rename them to be consistent with the layout.

But, I think you can avoid that hassle by explicitly naming each net.

If the schematic copy does the same as the layout copy (adds a subscript to the explict name) then maybe you do only have to rename nets that should be common between the instances.
