  • Richard,

     

    You've been a great help and I've made great progress.  But there are two things that currently have me stumped.  Maybe you can help.

     

    1.  I need to copy the schematic of part of one project into another project.  I've designed and prototyped the power management system as a project of its own.   Now I need to copy it into the "main" project.  Is there a way to do this?  I just want to bring the schematic over, then I'll lay it all out as one in the main project.

     

    2.  I want to layout my board with most traces on the component side (top) with as few traces on the bottom as possible.  The bottom will then be almost all ground plane.  Then, once I'm happy with the layout I want to "pour" ground plane virtually everywhere there are no traces.  Is there a way to do this short of drawing a bunch of polygons manually - which would also be quite prone to errors.  I would like a smart "pour" or "fill" that knows to fill an area with solid copper while stopping short of all the traces and pads.  Any way to do this?

    Hi Mike,

     

    you can merge different schematics:

    • Open the schematic and GROUP all elements you want to copy
    • Use CUT command and click into the drawing (it will be put into the paste buffer)
    • Close "source" schematic and Open the "target" schematic (File/Open......)
    • Now use PASTE to place it (maybe on a new sheet...)

     

    Copper planes:

    Use the POLYGON command and draw the contour of the area to be filled. Name the polygon the same as the signal it shall belong to. Noe let EAGLE calculate the polygon with RATSNEST. That's it.
