    Hi,

    I have designed a board using ALLEGRO ACS750*CA-050 (Farnell: 1791390) component for which I found the device in the Allegro library.

    This component requires two slots PTH of 2x4mm.

    Eurocircuit is the present manufacturer for our boards.

    It seems that the interpretation of the files sent to the manufacturer does not show properly the slots shape.

    The boards arrived with pairs of holes intead of the slots.

    Question 1 : how to represent a slot that needs to be milled and platted inside, what layer, what line width etc..?

    Question 2 : what type of CAM job to use in order that gerber files show properly the slots to be milled?

    If the board manufacturer has to mill oblong holes, you have to draw the milling contour of oblong holes in a separate layer. Usually this is layer 46, Milling.
    The milling contour for components that need oblong holes can be drawn with WIRE (and possibly ARC) with a very fine wire width near or even 0 in the Package Editor. Take a pad that has a drill diameter which lies inside the milling contour, or SMDs, for example in Top and Bottom layer, as basis for the oblong hole.
    In case of a multilayer board you should draw a WIRE in the used inner layers at the position of the oblong holes so that it covers the milling contour and leaves a kind of restring around the opening. Please inform your board manufacturer that they have to take care on the milling data drawn in this layer.

    You have to add a further sectino to your CAM job that exports Gerber data for layer 46 Milling.

    Hi Richard,

    thank you so much for your advises.

    It has been quite difficult to understand how to add the section in the CAM job, I'm not too familiar with this.

    I think I did it properly. I have to find a kind of manual that contains a detail explanation about CAM processes?
