    Hi,

    What is the best way to run a differential pair?  Is there any tricks or files I can run to help the process out?

    Hello Heedaf,

         I am sure there are files... but I make one trace from the pair wide as the sum of final traces + gap of the differential pair. After I finish layout, I change its width back to normal - and now there is enough room to place both traces in parallel.

        If you want to place traces in different layers (to do it you need, most probably, multilayer PCB), place one (let say, "top") trace first, keep room under it free than layout, "cut" whole trace (as "group"), "paste"  trace at the empty space, change its layer to "bottom" and move it as "group" to the designated place.

    Hi Lev and Don,

     

    there are two ULPs that can help.

    length.ulp gives a list of all signals with its total lengths or when used with for example two signal names

     

    RUN length signal 1 signal2

     

    it gives a list of these two signals only.

    There is also length-freq-ri.ulp which gives a bit more information in the list of all signals. Try it. image

    no sorry, currently no help in placing traces. But Lev's ideas sounds very good.

    This only provides the lenghts of the signals?  What about help in placing the traces?
