    Hi Richard,

I've been using for about 5 years and really enjoy it. I'm designing a package for a through hole part with very small pins. When editing individual pads, I can change the drill diameter and the overall diameter, but when I use that package in a part, I see that the pad drill diameter is as specified, but the outer diameter returns to the value I would get from setting the pad outer diameter to "auto".

Since the pins are close to each other, I'm getting many clearance errors in my DRC. Any suggestions?

    -Eric

    Hi,

EAGLE calculates a PAD diameter according to a porcentage of the drill size, this criteria is controlled in DRC/RESTRING tab.

In the DRC/Restring tab dialog box you will notice parameter for PADS, VIA and MicroVias. For the PADs, EAGLE compares the value given in the library and the value calculated on the board.  EAGLE will use whatever value is greater.  To solve this, in the DRC/RESTRING tab set the MIN column to 0 and set the Restring_% to a very low value like 1%.  This will force RESTRING to have a value smaller than the assigned value in the library.

    Have a GREAT DAY!!!

    Regards,

    Ed

As a side note, I can get the diameter change to show up if I make it larger than the "auto" diameter, but not if I set it to a smaller than the auto.
