  • I have a custom part for a through-hole connector in which I am overriding the "auto" pad diameter setting.  In the Library/package editor the pads are 32mil dia. with a 20mil drill.  When I place this component in a board design, it shows up with a 40mil pad diameter. Is there any way to ensure we get the desired non-auto pad diameter in the board layout?  I'm using Eagle 5.6.0 Light on on Windows XP Pro.

    Hi Louis,

     

    that's really odd...... Never had such a problem, but I will keep an eye on it and will do some testing.

    I checked the file and it's exactly like you wrote, see below:

    DISPLAY = _current_layers_;

     

     

    I found out that the chance of the script having the wrong result is bigger when I select it by dubble clicking it in the list, then when I select it via the OPEN button.

     

     

    Doesn't get us any further, hu?

  • Dear Richard,

    One of my customer meet a reel problem with designlink. In fact, when he uses AOP and Gates circuit (ex. MCP6002) and he put one gate (IC1A) on a sheet (N°1) and a second gate (IC1B) on an other sheet (N°2), when he edit the BOM with DesignLink, it creates 2 circuits MCP6002 instead of 1 only.

    Could you solve this problem or add an answer for my customer?

    Have you a solution about it?

    Hi Louis,

     

    never heard of this problem before......

    Well, looking into the script I can see that in a first step we remember the currently displayed layers.

    Then the script uses RIPUP for the signals and now only layer 19 will be displayed. Then GROUP

    DELETE to all visible airwires. Last step is to display the previously displayed layers again.

     

    Regarding the way the script works, I could imagine that, if the layers tOrigin and bOrigin are displayed

    before selecting the GROUP for deleting all objects, the parts will be deleted as well.

    But I can't think how this could happen. Could you please check the script file? Maybe there is a problem

    in it.

    The original looks like this:

  • Dear people,

     

    I have downloaded EAGLE Version 5.11.0 for Linux, and use the Light Edition.

     

     

    My  problem with this program is that if I open the Script Window and  choose the delete-signals.scr file to ripup all signals on a board,  sometimes when I activate it it's not the traces and airwires in the layout that are deleted (as described) but it's all the parts that disappear.

    Very inconvenient, because I have to start all over positioning the parts and so.

     

    Could not find anywhere if this was a known bug, so I'm asking you.

    Hi Norman,

     

    sorry for my late reply..... I suppose my answer comes too late. But in case of such an errror message, please contact the CadSoft support directly. Send the file by email and we can check this.

    If there are problems with the file now, please check for backup files in the same directory as the library file is. Backup files have the file extension .l#1 upto .l#9. rename it to .lbr again and try working with it.

    Hello to all,

     

    I've been using EAGLE for some years now, and there is some things I don't understand/dislike but don't know if I'm not doing it right.

     

    When using polygones to do a ground plane and after routing a new connection I have to click the ratsnest to update the polygon. Is there any other way? this is a tedious process :S

     

    Another thing I think EAGLE should do is to highlight the layer that I am currently routing, for example, if I have a two layer board and I'm routing on the bottom layer. When the design is complex its dificul to see where is the free space.

     

    If you have any helps for these situations I would aprecitate that.

       Thanks for the confirmation.  I was kinda afraid of that... just means more hours repeating tasks... Just goes to show nothing in life is free.
