Mask Opening

Hi,

New poster...

Just upgraded from 5.10 to 5.11. The connection to Newark gets some getting used to.

Laying out a Hittite PLL on FR4, this is a high frequency chip. The layout calls out a MASK OPENING around the pins of the device with no soldermask or paste in this area.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Please see attached page 4.

Thanks,

Tim

    Hi Tim,

by default EAGLE creates a solder stop mask and a cream paste mask for each SMD pad. If you want to keep a certain area free of solder stop laquer, simply draw a rectangle or use the polygon command in the solderstop layer (tStop). It is possible to switch off the automatic generation of the stop mask by switching off the STOP flag in the SMD properties. This  is the same for the solder paste mask.

    Regards,

    Richard
