While using element14's library for the PIC18F4431-E/PT from "Microchip_By_element14_Batch_1", I have found (too late) that the pin out is for the QFN instead of the TQFP. While the board layout looks the same because of the socket, the pin locations are different and it lets the smoke out when powered. This has cost me not only the chip. but the complete board design and a couple of weeks designing and getting a new PCB. Not pleased. Beware.
