Tried to update and got an error message?

one of my computers has eagle 7.6 and this one had 7.2 so I tried to update.

Removed the old eagle (uninstalled) and on the cadsoft site https://www.autodesk.com/products/eagle/free-download  I tried to download the windows version of Eagle 8.2.1.

I got a file in my download box which I ran, this has set eagle up and given me a shortcut on my screen.

When I click the shortcut I get a box saying  

"The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-1-1-0 is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem  “

I have rerun the program after uninstalling the eagle program and wiped the loaded file from my uploads and reloaded it without any change.

Can someone help me get Eagle back?

    The first question I have, did you have a licensed version of v7 or were you just using the freeware version?

     

    If you had a licensed versions, do you know that v8 will not work with your existing license?

     

    There are also some issues with v8 on some systems and maybe this is related to what you are seeing. There are also some functionality regressions at the moment too. I believe they are working hard on bug fixes for the next release so hopefully things should improve significantly.

     

    To get you up and running quickly I suggest you download the latest v7 version and work with that for now. You can download that from here: http://eagle.autodesk.com/eagle/software-versions

    I am just using the freeware version.

     

    I have uninstalled version 8xx and installed version 7-6 which is what I have on the desk top.

    It looks to work now but if I try to load .sch's from the dropbox file that all my sch's are on it just shows the file I had months ago (when I last used this laptop for drawing eagle files) I have made many changes and these show on my desktop but not here.  I have synced dropbox from here and my desktop but nothing seems to get me to see the up to date file?

    I think my problem is now somewhere else and I now have Eagle back on this laptop.
