Eagle Polyfuse Connection

mihaela_apetroaie

Hello,

I am new to Eagle and I have this problem with polyfuses. If I connect a polyfuse on the 5V input, the polyfuse output is not 5V, as shown in figure. What is the problem, does anyone know how to solve it?

I tried to name the polyfuse output 5V, but not sure if that is the right answer.

Thank you,image

Thanks for this. I was a bit confused as to why do they have different names as the polyfuse is supposed to conduct the power - unless over current - but it makes sense now.

In EAGLE (and most other ECAD packages) connections are made when net names are the same. This means the net each side of the polyfuse need to be named differently, if they are the same the polyfuse will be shorted out. In the absence of a supply symbol to name the net, EAGLE will insert a new n$ net name when you create a new net like the one the other side of your polyfuse. You can rename this with the NAME command to something more meaningful so long as it's not the same as the name the other side. Alternatively use a supply symbol to force the net name if it's a power rail.

    Best Regards,
