Looking for 2-digit & 4-digit 7-segment Eagle library parts

andyinsurrey
andyinsurrey over 7 years ago

I have found the Kingbright BA56-12GWA matches the 3-digit 7-segment part I'm using in my project, i.e. a HS320561K.  However, I also require 2-digit and 4-digit variants of the same part.  Has anyone already created 2-digit and 4-digits parts for use in Eagle?

    Hi,

this family of this kind of displays are in your library.

You can easily coping into your created part.

As example here is a Referenz of this kind of displays:

    http://www.aplomb.nl/Niels_skn/7-Segment_QRD%20Niels.pdf

-> use a standard DIL-socket, 12 pins, and around of that draw your package corners with its dimensions.

This is very easy creating this parts.

    Tip:

before you are drawing, check the display of common cathode or common anode.

    Best Regards,

    Gerald

I've worked out how to update an existing library.  I have created a 2-digit variant and have all the pads in the correct location and correctly connected.  I now just need to repeat the process to create a 4-digit variant.

Thank you for the link to the data sheets.

    This can be created similarly.

    Create a new device.
Create the connections and the 7-Segment Character in the symbol.
Create a pin array in the part with the specified footprint.
It is also possible, if there is a footprint, e.g. 12 pins, then simply

expand the number of pins in the new part (e.g. up to 14 or 16 or as you need).

Rearrange it, or rename it if it is required.
Then copy a two-character display-image (just the image without any pins) and paste it into the part twice.
Then move the characters over the pins to the right place.

write the text: >name in the NAME layer
write the text: >value in the VALUE layer
in the symbol also in the part.

Connect in the device the pins of the part with the pins of the symbol.
    Save everything, done.

    Regards,
    Gerald
