DRC Trace width errors???

nateflanigan

Hello, I'm having a very strange problem. I've laid out and routed a board, the DRC check comes back that every single trace width is an error. All of my trace widths are 24 mil, the Min/width spacing in the DRC is 5/5 mil.  I have several other boards I have designed for this same project, all use 24 mil traces and I've run the DRC using the same .dru file with no issues.  Also, if switch over from the .dru I've been using and use the default Eagle .dru I get the same results. What could be the problem?

Thanks!

Hello, Have you changed anything in the net classes? If you have specified a different width/space requirement there it will override the DRC settings for any traces of that particular net class. Is there…

Hi Rachael , Let's just say, not that I know of, or not intentionally in regards to changing net classes. To be clear, I don't really know what you're talking about, I will investigate though. If you beat…

Well, that's got me on the right track. Under EDIT > NET CLASSES the default width was set to 40 mil. I changed it to 20 mil, now I'm only getting one width error on my ground pour polygon.

    Hello,

Have you changed anything in the net classes? If you have specified a different width/space requirement there it will override the DRC settings for any traces of that particular net class. Is there a chance you changed the default net class to be greater then 24mil?

    Best Regards,

    Rachael

    Hi Rachael,

I’m glad you found the problem was the net class settings and resolved the issue.

Just in case you don’t know, if you set the default net class to 0 then the DRC settings will control the minimums for all default nets.

What line width have you ised for your ground pour polygon?

    Best Regards,

    Rachael

The line on the Polygon is 16 mil, I've changed the net class width to zero and am now error free. Thank you so much for the help!
