assumed you have bought a license for EAGLE version 5: all versions 5.x are updates for free. The next release will be 5.8.0. It will be free for all those that are working with a previous 5.x.x version. The next update you had to pay for would be version 6.
yes this is correct. CadSoft offers special prices for so-called educational licenses, for example for schools or universities. Basically there are the same license models: Standard or Professional Edition, with the possible combinations of Schematic, Layout and Autorouter modules for single and multi-user solutions.
