From many article , they all recommand use Vector, no use other.

but in eagle ,the the fault font is Proportional.

which font type should I used? if it is vector, why eagle use proportional as default font?

    HI,

Gerber files always use VECTOR font, so on the board editor you should consider always using Vector fonts

for all information that will be used as text.  That way your resulting board will look exactly as your Gerber files.

The availability of having multiple fonts is typically used for documentation purpose.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Ed

    thanks your reply.

but I don't know why CADSoft use proportional font as default font.

of cause, I can group select all these text and change them to vector font. it is easy.

Well, this has also historical reasons. The best solution wo, im my opinion, would be to use vector font in the packages and if you prefer, proportional font for the symbols.Keep this in mind in case you draw your own library parts.

If we would change the current libraries, you would get a message that the there is a different package/symbol in your drawing which should be updated with the current library definition. This would cause a lot of trouble for the users. Imagine you had to confirm this each time you add a part to your existing design. And that's not all you had to check your designs again and try to find out whether there are changes cause any trouble in your layout.

Maybe we will have some changes there for a new major version, but currently you have to live with this situation.

    Richard
