multiple layouts on 1 board

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 16 years ago

i have a layout that is 50mm x 50mm and i have read that the free version of cadsoft eagle has a max useable size of 100mm x 80mm.  i would like to put 2 of the layouts on one 100mm x 80mm board but can't for the life of me figure how to do this.  i don't know if something is locked in the design or ?.  any help w/ this matter would be greatly appreciated as it would cut my time in 1/2 being able to do the 2 boards at once.

    Hi,

first of all be sure that your layout's lower left corner is located at (0 0). To duplicate the board, you have to do the following steps:

    - DISPLAY ALL layers

    - GROUP around all objects

    - click the CUT icon and then left mouse click into the drawing

Supposed you don't have a consistent schematic in the background:

    - Click the PASTE icon and place the layout

Supposed you have a consistent schematic in the background:

    - File/New/Board

    - Click the PASTE icon and place the layout as often as wanted

    - Check the Design Rules settings of the new board compared to your

original board (you can save the DRC settings and load them in the new

      board again)

In case you want to have a silkscreen printed on the boards, you have to take care on

this before CUT/PASTE. Use panelize.ulp before. It copies the original part names

into a new layer, which doesn't change for the pasted boards. See help of the ULP.

    Regards,
    Richard
