Hi,

I often design PCB with single bottom layer. I would like to know if Eagle V6 can create "jumper connection" where it is necessary.

In my country, Mauritius, there is no PCB manufacturer. Hence I have to make my own PCB using Photo sensitive board and etching solution.

I also note that there is no auto placement of the components. Therefore, I have to do trial and error placement to cope with.

Please help me to find solution and advise me the best way to use Eagle V6.

Hi,

if you are making singlesided boards and you would like to use some wire jumpers, you could simply place use two vias for it. When you are ROUTEing you can set vias directly with Shift key + left mouse click.

EAGLE does not offer autoplacement function, so you have to arrange the components manually. There are two projects that are realized through ULPs which offer an autoplace function. Please look at
http://www.cadsoft.de/cadsoft-downloads/ and search for "autoplace". Maybe these ULPs work for you.

It's not automatic, but you can fake jumpers by designing a 2 layer board. Place all the routing on the bottom layer (the layer you plan to etch) and route your jumpers as traces on the top layer. These top layer traces will not exist on your physical board, but the holes will be shown shown as vias and the jumpers will be shown as top layer traces. After your board is etched, you insert the missing top layer as jumpers.

Keep the top layer traces simple, straight and don't go under any components and this technique works.
