Stumped again: Ground plane connections for surface mount parts

I've tried, really I have.

Here's the situation: Parts on the top layer, Ground plane on the bottom. I have a ground plane (after I discovered that you better check that orphan box). But, rats nest reports 14 airwires. Furthermore, there are no vias to the ground plane from the top layer.

What I think I want is automatic placement of nice tiny vias in the middle of the ground pad on top to the bottom plane.

But how?

Let me say how I solved this problem (sorta): I set up the autorouter as specified around page 200 in the manual (RTFM!). This will route on the top layer a tad and then burrow down to the ground layer. Since they discourage vias in the middle of pads (because of bumps) then this is the best I could do.

It did the trick and I'll be alright with it.

Hi,

you can use the VIA command in order to set vias. Simply name the via the same as the signal of the ground plane and it connects polygons in top and bottom layer.
