How do I Import attributes

Former Member
Former Member over 12 years ago

Our Ops guys would like to include internal part numbers in out designs, i would like to have them as attributes in the schematic. That way anytime i generate a BOM the internal Part numbers are included.

Is there an easy way to export Attributes into an Excel file add a column of new attributes and import them back in? I'm using Version 5.11.

I looked at BOM -EX it seemed a little confusing.

Any help would be great.

thanks

Steve

    Hi,

first you have to use the ATTRIBUTE command to add attributes to devices. It makes sense to do this in the libraries so that each device has its set of attribuites.

If the schematic is already done and you want to add attributes for components in the schematic directly you can use the ATTRIBUTe command in the schematic, as well.

After this use one of the "bill of material ULPs" that take attributes into consideration. In version 5 there is a bom_with_attributes.ulp for this.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Richard

I am hoping that someone can suggest a way to do what I want to do, although I suspect that it is not something that is easy to do with Eagle.  It looks very similar to what the OP wants to do....

I would like to generate a component library - each part in the library would have a set of attributes, and I would like to be able to import and/or update these attributes from an external database.   Ideally there would be a two way sync where I could update the database after making a change to a component attribute in Eagle, as well as update the Eagle library after making a change to the attribute in the database.

I am flexible as to what format to keep the database in, although ideally it would be compatible with Microsoft Access.
