Gate A in old version of device

japper
japper over 12 years ago

I am trying to create a new part from another part with a different package type and I have connected the pins but when I attempt to replace the

part on my schematic with the new part I get the following error message:

Gate A in old version of device set can't be mapped to any gate in the new version of this device set (neither by name nor by coordinates)

How do I fix this problem?

Thank you

    Hi japper,

if you do a REPLACE or UPDATE command, EAGLE has to take care on the connections of the pins/pads to the nets/signals. If the pin names of old symbol and new symbol are identic, the assignment is no problem. If the names are different, EAGLE tries to check the location of the pins. If it is the same, it will be connected. In case that names and location do not fit, it can't be replaces. Please check you symbols in the library.

    Regards,

    Richard

Perfect, thank you.  So you can rename pins, save, update and avoid the  "old version can't be mapped" problem, so long as you don't move the pins.  I did this and moved them after a library update and all worked.  Thanks again.
