Some Objects extend outside the allowed area in Eagle Light version

I added this question onto another person's post but thought that it might get overlooked so I am posting a new discussion for this issue...

I am having problems with my board layout in Eagle cad light.

I drew the schematic and when I switch to the board layout, and attempt to move any part of

the design into the board area I get the error shown below...

Eagle cad is dropping these parts outside the board area and then not allowing me to move

them within the board area.

How do I fix this?

Thanks

    Hello,

In the lite version of Eagle, your board and components must be in the positive X and Y coordinates. You need to move your board above and to the right of those crosshairs. The crosshair is at position 0,0. After you move the lines on the dimension layer, your components will be able to be placed as you would expect.

    Thanks for the reply...

I tried moving all the items above and to the right of the crosshairs but get the same message.

The board outline by itself would fit within the limited available light version board area but because it spews all  the components

all over the place I can't get them all contained within this area.

Do I need to start with only the board layout in the schematic then switch to the PCB and make sure that it is within

this area and then do this for every part that I place in order to get within the light version's available board space

    with positive coordinates?

No you don't have to start again.

Simply draw the board contour in the positive area starting at the coordinates origin (0 0). The board has to be in the range of (0 0) and (100 80) [mm]. Now you can drag/move all the components insiode this area.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Thanks for the advice Richard.

The board outline is actually a library part that I downloaded as it has all the dimensions of the QSeven module

so I wasn't able to simply redraw the board contour. I started over with a new schematic and placed the QSeven

board outline on the schematic then immediately positioned it inside the board outline area.

Doing this allowed me to handle the other parts that I added later.

I took over a project from someone else and got this error message when I tried to change the board design. So I deleted the board design and created it from the schematic again. This time I can place everything inside the board outline. But when I make the board outline bigger, I get the same error message again when I tried to place components outside the original board outline. image

Does anyone have any advice for me? image

    Hi,

you are working with the Freemium edition which is limitted to a maximum board size of 100 mm x 80 mm. If you have to design larger boards, you will have to switch to another EAGLE edition, like Standard 160 x 100 mm, or Professional 4000mm x 4000mm).

    Regards,

    Richard Hammerl
