Complex board in eaglecad from schematic turns into a nightmare..

Former Member

I have a problem: i developed a circuit on eaglecad 6.6.0 wich has many ic and zero ohm resistors on it.

i coud easly draw the schematic and i'm close to finishing this thing, but when i want to make the pcb, instead of a

circuit diagram i have a heavy mess of chips, jacks, zero ohms and other stuff and i can't sort it.

i want to generate a 15x15cm pcb and i'd like to convert the diagramm into a pcb as it looks like, does exist

any other manner of preserving the schematic design on the the pcb and then route it?

I think you'll find this problem with any PCB cad package.

The hard part about designing  a pcb is placing the parts  - and while some cad software has automatic part placing I've never seen one that did it half as well as people can.

With the same schematic the part placement on the board can easily make the difference between needing 2 layers or 6 for routing.

The pcb design system I use puts all the components in a bin and you place them one at a time - it takes a while but it is the key to the design.

Once your bits are placed you can try the autorouter but it you'll get better results if you don't. (Autorouters are fussy about exactly how you set up their rules - it's worth taking the time to really understand how your software does this.)

Can you post the schematic (in pdf or jpg)  -  it would help to get the scale of your problem.
