So.... I'm sure a few of you have been waiting with baited breath for my Fuzz Face demo video........ Probably not
Well, i tried to film one, and pulled the plug on it immediately due to an issue with my stage guitar amp set up. let me explain.
I have recently rewired my whole system, It's quite a complicated stereo system and incorporates some fairly top end stuff all assembled into a 10u 19" rack case. i won't go into the nitty gritty of each unit, but suffice to say there's a pretty high powered power amp, and top of the range pre-amp, and various effect based units, a wireless system and a tuner. The issue I had i didn't notice until I wired in the Fuzz Face. You see, you have to make sure all the units are assembled correctly in the rack, and that they don't create an earth loop, as you probably know you should only have one ground, and the best configuration is to have star grounding of the various units. Well, I did have an earth loop, but it was't really noticeable until i wired into the audio switcher unit the Fuzz Face that I made...... As the fuzz Face is a gain circuit it amplified the 60 cycle hum that was there and made it unbearable... I didn't notice it with the power boost, likely because the boost pedal didn't really get into high gain.
Long story short, I posted a post on the Voodoo Lab forum (the manufacturer of my switching system) and their resident wizard, John Clark came to my rescue.... I had the rack wired incorrectly. It was a school boy error but an easy one to make. However, i'm now back in business, and my system is now super quiet, so as soon as I can I'll film the aforementioned Fuzz Face demo..... At last
