The element14 Arduino CadSoft Library (Rev C)

image

We are pleased to offer our very own CadSoft library for Arduino--for free!  Our new library simplifies Arduino shield development by placing the most-popular Arduino pinouts right at your fingertips.  The latest version includes these boards: 101, Uno, Nano, Mini, Micro, Mega2560, Lilypad, Leonardo, Ethernet, and Due

Hi Andrew- This library references the MEGA2560. I think it could be labeled better, so I'll add that change to the next library revision. There are a few differences between the two on the pin headers…

    Well done, very useful.

Hi Andy- This library has the Due, Ethernet, Leonardo, Lilypad, Mega, Micro, Mini, Nano, and Uno boards. Thanks for asking about the Micro Pro - it helps for determining which ones would be useful to add…

    Hi Karl-

The dimension can't be deleted because it is part of the package that gets defined in the library (similar to how you can't move or delete any of the headers). While this is useful for someone looking to create a board of the same size as the Arduino, in your case it is a hindrance.

To fix your problem, you have to edit the package in the library editor to delete the outline. I'd suggest copying the existing package to paste in a new package in your library to be exactly what you want. Then you can use that new package by adding it as a variant to the MEGA device. Additional reference to help: Re: How to copy package within the same library?

How can i remove the dimension of the Arduino Mega board in the dimension layer? I want to make a bigger shield, so i placed the board within my allowed 100 x 80 mm board size, but somehow can not change or delete the outline of the Arduino board. When i do rastnet, the area around the Arduino Board will not be covered with the copper layer.

+1 on this!  I am having a hell of a time finding this footprint.  I am hoping I don't have to make it myself because I simply don't have that amount of time :-(

Thanks Dave, it's my favourite board at the moment but a little hard to source. I notice that SparkFun have the full schematics / pcb for this but what I really wanted was just the outline so I can add it into a board as if it was a large DIL chip. I'll see if it's possible to cut down their library to meet my requirement.
