Linear Technology CAD Library for Cadsoft EAGLE Software

element14 provides consolidated Cadsoft EAGLE CAD libraries to reduces the efforts and time put into by our customer in PCB design process while creating CAD Library for specific part in a design. The provided CAD libraries has both Symbols and Footprints (Device, Symbol & Package) information and developed as per IPC standards to meets all industrial PCB design requirements. Every CAD library has part information along with Farnell and Newark order codes which helps in creating final Bill of Materials with the suppliers order codes.

This EAGLE CAD library covers a range of Linear Technology devices like Amplifiers, Drivers, Power Management, Comparators, Converters, Transceivers, Controllers, Oscillators, Filters, Multiplexers etc. This library is provided in a downloadable ZIP format which includes below files:

1. Linear Technology Library (.lbr) file

2. List of components in the library (PDF)

3. Readme file - Gives step by step instruction on how to import and use the library file into the Cadsoft EAGLE software.

Square boxes with pins like "EP" attached at apparently random points around the perimeter, are NOT schematic symbols. For example, Amplifiers are big triangles, pointing to the right, with inputs on the left, and outputs on the right. Supplies and enable pins are either in the top/bottom sides, or preferably with supplies on a separate symbol. This is ESPECIALLY true when you have multiple amps in a single package. This way, each amplifier can be individually inserted at the point in the ***schematic*** where they are used, instead of having to loop outputs around the square box back to some input, or worse yet, assign the output a symbolic name and then use a disconnected wire segment to input to the next stage. The WHOLE POINT of a schematic is to make the circuit easy to visually understand, not just a net-list to pass on to the router. One of my library chips has 1517 pins on ONE CHIP. Using your methods would be completely unworkable. Instead I have about a dozen separate parts, use the library to group multiple parallel voltage and ground pins to represent them as ONE PIN EACH on the schematic and rely on the proper design of the library part to pass the multiple parallel pins on to the layout page. Even your 14/16 pin chips are represented by single square boxes,... ALL OF THEM. You miss the whole point of a ***schematic*** completely. You should just type in a text connection list, it would work just as well.

This "library" of square boxes does a lot to teach users exactly how a schematic should NOT be drawn. I won't be using it, that's for sure, and even my complicated schematics will continue be much easier to understand than even a simple one using your "library" and those like it. I'm really disappointed in the complete lack of attention to detail at even a rudimentary level.

Those of you wanting them to add this, that, or the other chip, just forget it, spend the time to create it yourself.

    Hi,

is Linear Tech no Long supported on Eagle? this chain looks very dated.

I was looking for LTM8064, but is not here and doesn't look like it will be added shortly.....I will have to re-think using the LTM8064......
