ON Semiconductor CAD Library for Cadsoft EAGLE Software

element14 provides consolidated Cadsoft EAGLE CAD libraries to reduces the efforts and time put into by our EDE customer in PCB design process while creating CAD Library for specific part in a design. The provided CAD libraries has both Symbols and Footprints (Device, Symbol & Package) information and developed as per IPC standards to meets all industrial PCB design requirements. Every CAD library has part information along with Farnell and Newark order codes which helps in creating final Bill of Materials with the suppliers order codes.

This EAGLE CAD library covers a range of ON Semiconductor devices like Tranceivers, Comparators, Amplifiers, Multiplexers, Shifters, Drivers, Controllers, Power Management etc. This library is provided in a downloadable ZIP format which includes below files:

1. ON Semiconductor Library (.lbr) file

2. List of components in the library (PDF)

3. Readme file - Gives step by step instruction on how to import and use the library file into the Cadsoft EAGLE software.

I am looking for MJD44H11 and MJD45H11 components within a library. I know it is an On Semi component.

However, it is not listed in their library.

Any suggestions, besides creating one? My version apparently does not let me create components.

RE: Error An general error occurred while processing your request.

Does not work for me either.

Could this be due to the space in the name of the zip file?

Neither "ON Semiconductor.zip" or "ON_Semiconductor.zip" work, is there another copy of this somewhere?

I traded emails with CadSoft and got the procedure below to translate libraries from 6.x to 5.x.  It seems to have worked.  If you try this, as with any found library, check any parts you use for correctness.

"What you would have to do is open the library in V6. Once you have the library open go File -> Export
-> Script in the library editor.

Once the script has been created in the EAGLE control panel for V5 go File -> New -> Library. In the Library editor that pops up just type Script in the command line and press enter. Find the library script that was previously created and click OK. This will recreate the library, keep in mind the process is not perfect there are features in V6 that didn't exist in V5 so you'll get some errors but just OK them and you should get a near perfect import."

    What I did was:

    - go to another computer.  Install and start 6.x Free (didn't want to disturb a working 5.x install)

    - opened and exported the library as described

    - copied the resulting *.scr file to the computer wtih 5.x installed

    - imported the *.scr file as described.

CadSoft noted this is not 'convenient'.  It does appear at first look to work.  Again, a wise PCB designer would check any part before using it to make a board, no matter who the source is.  If there's a location to upload it here, PM me where and I'll send it up.

    Good luck!

Version 6 changed the data format significantly, so they aren't readable by version 5.

    http://www.cadsoftusa.com/eagle-pcb-design-software/new-in-v6/?language=en

"The new XML database structure provides the ability to write scripts that manipulate designs in the EAGLE format which will give users huge productivity benefits. You can make design changes, import information from other designs, and even translate from other formats. EAGLE is one of the first Commercial CAD Programs that adopts a ASCII XML data structure as their native file. This makes EAGLE the most flexible, user friendly and productive PCB tool on the market."

I still get invalid data when I try to use the library with eagle 5.10, are the libraries not backward compatible with eagle versions?

    thanks

    Doug
