pizutti over 4 years ago

I'm not sure if anyone noticed it, I have two licenses for CircuitStudio, I have aquired it in less than a year ago (sptember to be more exact), and today I'm making a new installation on a new computer, the Pdouct Nanme in the licenses have changed from CircuitStudio to CircuitMaker Pro as you can see here:

Just to let you know, seems like things are moving forward!

The license and the name of the product is linked to your online account hence the change of the name of product is done by altium licensing server. I just wait for altium to anounce the update for circuintmaker…

At this rate I would suggest migrating to KiCad ................this has been an epic waste ot time, money and lost productivity. Altium still keeps trying to sell me a full blown version of Altium feels…

KiCad - was quite primitive but deserves an occasional look. AD is a hard working day to day professional tool. CS (and hopefully CM-Pro) are close (ok, distant in some areas) siblings. This gap hopefully…

I haven't used my Circuit Studio 1.5.2 in a while. Please refresh my memory how to review my license details.

    Never mind, I found it.

Mine also says Circuit Maker Pro. But what does this mean? The software hasn't been updated, still looks the same.

You have made me so happy today !

I also just noticed this morning that the CircuitMaker Pro videos are "unlisted" which means that a search will not bring them up.  But they're still there and nicely done ... concise.

Has anyone heard of progress on Circuit Maker Pro release date.

It seems like Altium is not dealing with this and its only Farnell which makes one understand why all the delay.

Would be good to know if it is going to get release in 2021 or not.

It has been little over a year from comming soon announcement for CM pro. It has not been update to Circuit studio since late 2018. CM pro is to be continuation of CS. I wonder if somwhere in the higher decision making structures of Altium has been decision made to kill the project of CM Pro. For the Past year I can see strong change in Altium products heading. Mainly push to subscription based use of their products and sharp increase in prices of stand alone licenses. The absolute lack of  any information about the CM Pro project from the Altiums mouth leaves a lot of room for speculation. It would be nice if somebody cleared the air with the official statement.

    I'll comment since no-one else has : )

It's been almost three and a half years since the last release, any perceived promises or expectations have come and gone. Even if CM Pro version 1.0 was released today, would you potentially be happy waiting another three and a half years for release 1.1? That would be 2025..

KiCad - was quite primitive but deserves an occasional look.

AD is a hard working day to day professional tool.  CS (and hopefully CM-Pro) are close (ok, distant in some areas) siblings.  This gap hopefully will close a bit more with CM-Pro.

But, don't buy AD if CM-Pro fills your needs and budget.

CS doesn't become a waste of anything until the day comes when you cannot create a new job or open an old one.

Until then, enjoy it and in my opinion, support it.

Altium may come to realize that the market for CM-Pro is definitely there and can grow.

This market sows the seeds for future, professional/corporate purchases of many seats of AD ... since that's what you've learned.

    Are you listening, Altium ??

** many years of PADS, Allegro/Cadence and finally, AD and now retired, need a low cost CM-Pro **

I just had a cryptic conversation with Altium chat on their site. But long story short they told me that Circuitmaker Pro was already ready and we need to talk to Farnell Element 14 about it!!!!

So not sure what that means as it's very clearly still showing Circuit Studio 1.5 on here.

    Anyone know anything?
