Updating Components in Projects

Question

Hey,

Does anyone know a way to transfer updated library components on to the PCB or schematics without first removing them and then loading them again? I'm not talking about updating components from the Altium Vault but rather if you have made an integrated library and then update a component there and then want this change to show up in one of your projects.

I've been playing around with CircuitStudio and getting somewhat frustrated with it but I did find a way how to update components without needing to go through all of the deleting and adding. When you have a PCB footprint or Schematic open there is a button "Update PCB With Current Footprint" this updates the the footprint, similarly you have "Update Schematics" Button. You also need to have the PCB or schematic open that you want to update. If you need to update pin-outs you need to first update schematic and then push the changes to PCB. This works but as you might know from some other posts in the forum having a integrated library open at the same time with a project can cause the software to go into and endless loop of errors, especially if you compile the library. Therefore best option is to close project when you discover that a integrated library needs updating. Then update the component library compile and then reopen the project to push the changes to the project. Then close the integrated library before the software gets angry at having both of them open. Simple, isn't it. S
