In my schematics, I would like to link to a pdf file of the spec sheet and I can do so by inserting a Hyperlink from the Home ribbon. In the URL field in properties of the Hyperlink I enter the path to my pdf file as C:\Users\user1\Downloads\example_spec.pdf. When I hover on the placed link the link path will show up and then I select it opening the pdf file in my PDF Reader but it also opens a blank file in CircuitStudio. If in the Hyperlink properties, I enter the website path to the manufacturers spec directly as https://manufacturers_website.com/path/example_spec.pdf then open the link, the pdf will open correctly without opening a blank file in CircuitStudio. Does anyone know if I can prevent a blank file from opening in CircuitStudio when I open a pdf pointed to a file on my local computer?
In addition (not a question – only information) although there is no button to add a Hyperlink to a part in the schematic symbol library editor, you can still do so by typing hyperlink in the search box in the upper right corner and selecting Place > Hyperlink. This could come in handy to quickly link to a spec sheet for a given component.
