Some components stay fitted on board regardless of variants

Hello all,

I am using Variants in Circuitstudio and have the following problem.

There are some components which are always displayed in 3D model and on exported in the pcb assembly files even if they are "Not Fitted". These components are correctly marked in the schematic and in BOM.

Some other components are displayed correctly also on the PCB, so I assume I switch the versions correctly.

Does anyone have a question what might be happening?

Thank you.

Hi. When using Generate Outputs are you selecting a variant?

    Hi Peter,

yes, I am. It worked fine for some components and wrong for others. So I assume I did this procedure correctly.

I didn't have to go to generating output file, it was noticed also at the 3D view.

It seams more like a bug for me.

I "fixed" the problem replacing the component completely:  I added new one, checked the "variant functionality", on the board, deleted the "wrong" component, moved the new one to the correct place and used the correct designator for the new one.

I didn't notice any difference between the "wrong" component and the "good" but this behavior.

If swapping out and replacing components make it work then there is the possibility that the links between the schematic and PCB components had become outdated, possibly if you've been copy and pasting. If you encounter this issue again then the following will help you check and fix without the need to go around changing components.

In the PCB editor select Tools | Component Links, this checks the integrity of the schematic symbol to PCB component links and brings up a window to allow any unmatched components to be fixed up. If there is anything in the two left columns then action is required, otherwise everything is good. If there are mis-matches then select a symbol in the first column and PCB component in the second column and use the right arrow button to confirm the match.

Once all components are matched run an update from the schematic to bring the PCB up to date with any changes. Your variants should now display correctly.
