How do I get the component that owns a particular reference designator to be highlighted when I want to manually move the designator text? It was working such that the component would highlight when I moved the text so I knew where the parts was that I was trying to label but it just stopped working so I’m wondering if that is a setting somewhere to re-link the designator or re-activate the highlighting of the component function.
I'm assuming this in in PCB Editor, because I do not believe the interactive highlight works on schematic in this way.
Since this cannot be disabled, I am guessing your Dim Level slider is set to a level that is hard to distinguish visually. In the PCB Editor, look under the view tab to locate the Dim and Mask Level sliders, change the value for the Dim slider by moving it farther to the left. The farther to the right it is, the harder it is to see the difference.
This only works while actively holding the designator, clicking to select it will not guide you to the parent component.

Thanks for the suggestion Colby but unfortunately it hasn't solved the issue. The attached images confirm the highlighting function is working properly in Cross Probe but not when I move the ref designators. One thing I should mention is that although I'm not sure exactly when the "interactive highlighting" stopped working for designator movements, I had at one point selected all of the designators and changed some properties(size, font etc) with the "Object Inspector"
