setting via's net bug

So i am trying to add some GND vias onto what is already a polygon pour of a different net. So I start my via placement and press tab before placing so that I can pick the net, choose my net, place the via and hey presto my explicit instructions are ignored..... Any chance this ever gets fixed?

    I think my problem was because I was placing vias over an area that could have been to different nets, which is why i took the trouble to specify it, pity altium could not take the trouble to code their software to do as told..... copy and paste is just that, if things had of worked first time as they should have I would not have been trying to copy and paste and even that does not work as it should.

    I think you are correct.

     

      here is a video showing the described behaviour.

     

    In my example, I am trying to add GND vias, and I am doing so in an area where there are two internal layers with polygon pours underneath: 5V and GND

     

    The vias' Net property keep getting overidden to 5V even though I explicitly set the parameter to GND during placement.

     

    The only viable workaround I have found is to do one of the following:

     

    - Move the offending polygon pour off your board temporarily, taking note of it's X/Y position so you can easily move it back later

    - Change the way you are adding vias.  Instead of dropping via using the Via placement tool, use the route tool, route a track from the desired pad, and then switch layer to GND layer, which automatically drops a via tied to GND net the next time you click

    Or another way, as I suggested above, place the vias outside the board then drag them to where you need them.

    You are correct in that placing a via onto a polygon (poured or unpoured) does reassign the net. To add to the workarounds you can change the polygon layer to a spare mechanical layer so that it does not interfere with via placement and then change layer back afterwards. This way you do not need to remember the coordinates for the polygon because it never moved.

    So many warkarounds...... where is the roadmap that hopefully involves fixing the bugs before pretending to add functions again....?

     

    How do I switch layer whilst routing?

    Switch layers while routing by using Crtl-Shift-mousewheel up/down.
