odb++ output issues with circuitstudio

I'm having issues with CircuitStudio and odb++ output generation.  For some reason my supplier and I can both not view the odb++ outputs from CS (gerbers/pick and place files work fine).  Whenever I try to open the odb++ files (I'm using the "standard" viewer: https://www.odb-sa.com/resources/odb-viewer/ ) I get the following error "get-112113-illegal import file was detected" (screen shot attached).  I saw this note: ODB++ output formatting issues in CS , but I'm not sure it's related since a quick scan of the directory structure doesn't appear to have uppercase letters.  Has anyone successfully outputted odb++ from CS and been able to view them?

Unfortunately ODB++ output generation has issues and Altium are aware of this - the best option is to choose a different output format until a fix is released.

Is there a timeline for a fix?  My supplier (and most suppliers I've worked with) rely on ODB++ for mass produced boards.  This is a pretty glaring issue and odd that CS advertises obd++ output if it's not capable of it.

Nice to hear somebody is using ODB++, would be such a waste of effort if nobody was using it all.

No timeline I am aware of but Altium did indicate they would be publishing a roadmap for CircuitStudio so we can hope the fix makes in on there.

I agree that it is time for improving the transfer of board information from the designer to the manufacturer.

Seperate Gerbers, PnP, stackup, spec notes, BOM,  etc does work but feels clunky as we approach the year 2020!

There needs to be a truly open standard with reference implementation available for anyone to use which is free of NDAs, license fees and patents.

That is the only way to achieve good interoperability between the plethora of ECAD design software and manufacturer systems.

I'm not sure that OBD (first released in 1995) is it. Maybe IPC-2511 is a better bet.

Why are we engineers left waiting for a better format in 2019?

File formats are a bun fight between the corporations who seek to control them and use them as a cash cow.

I'll stick with Gerber for now thanks.

    I agree with you...

Don't know why all the exported data are transferred into such a amount of files.

It would be easier to get one file, so nobody have to zip it after export...

All projects i created in CS are exported with ODB++. No problems in manufacturing process by now.

But none free viewer can load and visualize it.

Funny fact...my CS will crash with "Error while initializing IPC-2581 Support CLR Host: Unable to create..." after using the export option.

If you are having problems with IPC-2581 then check out this article that explains how to fix: Error when launching IPC-2581 exporter

I've attached the standard font file to help.

EDIT: you may need to remove the .txt extension for it to work in other ODB++ viewers
