Synchronize Schematic with Updated Library Part

larry_137

I have created a schematic drawing with assorted components. After finishing, I realized I needed to add another parameter to all of the components. I have updated all of my component library files, but I can't figure out how to get the new parameter into all of the components already placed on the schematic. Is there a way to do this other than deleting them and replacing with a new component from the library? I recall somewhere while building the parts a check box that said something like "allow library synchronization" which was checked.

In the library panel (with list of components) right-click on a component and select 'update schematic sheets'.

I don't know of a way to update multiple/all components at once - you have to do them individually.

In PCB Footprints there is an option to update all.

When I right clip on the component in the Libraries window "Component Name" I only get: "Refresh Library" which does not update the schematic, "Place", "Select Columns", and "Edit".

Sorry, I wasn't clear about which panel.

I mean, in the SCHLIB editor, where you edit components. Right click on list of components there.

So, you need your schematic (.SchDoc) and the library (.SchLib) to be open.

I am still not getting the option to update schematic sheets. I have *.SchDoc open in the editor. I have *.SCHLIB open in the editor and I see the schematic of my part. There is no list of components. Where is that? I have tried opening Schematic Component Properties and right click anywhere in that window does not do it. I have clicked the component in Projects (window), *.PrjPcb, Libraries, Schematic Library Documents, *.SCHLIB. I have clicked the component name in the Libraries window under Component Name. No luck. What am I missing?

With the schematic library document open you can right click on the library list or use the toolbar icon. This will update the current symbol to all open schematic sheets.
